In this article, courtesy of Dr. David, host of the Fresh Start with Dr. David Podcast, and owner of Atlanta Health & Wellness Coaching, we explore strategies for changing your relationship with food and your body using the Inherent Energy of the Fall Season, as Fall is the Season of Harvest, Renewal, and Atonement (and hence, change).
Why is the Fall Season a good time to invest in your health?
The Fall Season is all about harvest, renewal, and rebalancing. Harvest is the process of collecting the fruits and vegetables of your labor from the seeds that you’ve planted during the Spring and cultivated through the Summer. Fall is the time for creating new things and redesigning things that haven’t worked, which is why educational institutions begin their new year in September.
Fall is also the time of the year when the sky gets cloudier, the leaves shed from twigs and branches, and plants and animals start to prepare for a new season of birth and planting. Fall is also an opportunity to change some health, wellness, and lifestyle habits that may not have produced results so far and to magnify those that have. In order to reboot your thoughts, feelings, actions, habits, and behaviors, you have to being with the fuel that you put in your body, which we call Diet or Nutrition.
Fall is a Time to REBOOT Your Health & Lifestyle Habits, Starting with Diet & Nutrition
Begin your Fall Diet and Nutrition Reboot by looking at your fuel consumption habits: the foods that you choose to intake in order to fund and support your metabolic processes. It is possible to make health dietary, nutritional, and eating choices while also enjoying preparing and eating food at the same time. You don’t have to choose one over the other. They are not mutually exclusive. In my opinion, you are much, much more likely to continue good nutritional and dietary habits if they are a part of a lifestyle choice based upon the concept of enjoying the processes of cooking and eating foods.
Consistently taking a high-quality multivitamin and taking high quality supplements on a daily and weekly basis will also make committing to positive lifestyle changes, losing weight, and maintaining good health much more sustainable. Vitamins, minerals, and high-quality supplements will also help you better manage chronic health conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Obesity, Metabolic Syndrome, and Cardiovascular Diseases. If you’re ready to get improve your eating habits, commit to regular meal prepping and smarter cooking approaches, and to losing some weight (if that’s needed), then schedule an appointment at Atlanta Health & Wellness Coaching, where we help you reach your health and wellness goals through small, doable, consistent action steps and concerted changes.
The fall season is also a great time to become more educated, knowledgeable, and informed about the science and research behind healthy dietary and nutritional practices, using books like The Nutrient Diet, the first diet, nutrition, and weight loss book to take a 2-pronged (50% Nutritional, 50% Psychological) approach to nutrition, diet, weight loss, and lifestyle management. The Nutrient Diet was inspired by the courage and confidence by which Oprah Winfrey took on obesity during the 80s and 90s on the Oprah Winfrey Show ®–taking away the stigma and shame associated with obesity and body image.
The Nutrient Diet encompasses principles from “Ketogenic Approaches”, taken from research data and clinical findings by Dr. Christopher Palmer, the Harvard Expert on the ketogenic diet. Dr. Palmer has used the “Ketogenic Diet” in his practice for decades, and has incorporated many of these principles in his new book, Brain Energy. The Nutrient Diet has a full chapter on vitamins, minerals, and supplements. It also covers amino acids and neurotransmitters. The Nutrient Diet also covers the ketogenic diet and ketogenic and protein-based approaches to diet.
In The Nutrient Diet: A Cognitive Behavioral Approach to Diet, Impulse Control, Habit Formation, Eating Behaviors & Weight Management, Dr. David offers a completely new, bold, intelligent, modern, psychological approach to diet, health, wellness and weight loss and weight management habits. The Nutrient Diet connects the metabolism, biochemistry, and physiology of the foods that you put in you body with the psychology of why you make the dietary choices that you make. The Nutrient Diet helps you understand the psychology of your dietary choices and helps you become more insightful and mindful about those choices, which are truly lifestyle choices.
The fall is the best time to explore new eating habits and dietary choices. It’s a great time to try eating foods that you might not typically consume, such as more exotic plants and fruits from the DeKalb Farmer’s Market to different varieties of fish than can also be found at places like the DeKalb Farmer’s Market, Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Kroger. In particular, I encourage my clients to explore new varieties of vegetables, fruits, nuts, and fishes that they haven’t tried before. In the case of many farmer’s markets, there are many varieties or exotic and tropic fruits, including fruits like starfruit, kiwis, golden berries, dragon fruit, and passionfruit. Stores like Miami Fruit and Good Hill Farms.
Start Life Coaching & Hypnotherapy to initiate New Goals
If you’re having trouble initiating dietary and nutritional changes on your own, then schedule a Hypnosis session specifically aimed at initiating new behavior choices, practices, and habits. Specifically, the fall is a great to reboot how you respond and react to life circumstances. A Hypnotherapy session could be tailored to helping you explore new dietary options that you hadn’t previously explored. The novelty of a new store or venue will help in motivating new, better behavior choices.
Contrastingly, life coaching sessions can provide you with structured, strategic, concerted and goal-focused approaches, providing you with strategies to initiate small, doable, and actionable steps to achieve meaningful personal and professional goals. In particular, life coaching sessions with Dr. David will show you the blind spots that you are failing to see that are the missing pieces of your struggles to change your lifestyle choices and habits. Regardless of whether you’re talking about professional goals or your personal objectives, choosing to receive objective coaching and advice can be the missing piece to your transformation to higher degrees of success.
